A look back at 2012
Our first event in 2012 was the Wirral to Llandudno Mini Run in January. A good day's driving along the Welsh coast and round The Great Orme. Good clutch control was essential ! This was followed a couple of weeks later by Mini Fair - the first big Mini Show of the year held indoors and giving us the first chance of the year to get some special deals. Next on the list was another run over moorland roads to Whitby where we joined in a terrific Mini convoy to Scarborough.
As spring started we made a visit to the North West Classic indoor car show, with some of the best classic cars on show. Although we didn't have any of our Club cars on display it was still great to look round. Easter saw our Minis heading early Sunday morning over to Yorkshire for the Big Breakfast meet, followed by a run over the moors to visit friends at Moorview Minis in Keighley before returning home. By mid spring we had been invited for a night out to a restaurant near Chorley as well as taking part in Cars In The Park over in Yorkshire. Our next big Mini event was the London to Brighton Mini Run and camping weekend. Our convoy down to and through London proved to be highly entertaining making the whole weekend a lot of fun.
After that it was back to the local car shows for our next events with the Capesthorn Hall Classic car show followed by the massive Classic Car show at Tatton Park with around 2300 cars on show. The Jubilee Bank Holiday Monday saw NMCMC spend the day celebrating in Yorkshire at the Ripley Castle Classic Car event; our Classic Minis covered in flags and bunting.
Our next 3 events were probably some of the best we did all year with a return trip in a day to the Mini Cooper Day at Beaulieu; well worth the very early start to see some of the works Minis on display along with a good look round the car collection. The next event we attended was on a Saturday at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power which was a wash out, or should that be a Mud bath? but we made the best of it and our Club Mini looked at home on the make shift stand. We must not forget our next event as its probably our ideal event - the Blackpool Mini Run. The day started with a moorland drive over to Skipton to meet up with the first group of other Minis for the A & B road convoy over to Preston. From there the final convoy of around 200 Minis drove to Blackpool and the Totally Transport Event on the Promenade.
More local Classic car and mixed events followed as our wet summer got into its stride, starting with the Oldham Classic Car Show held in the town centre. We then had a Club Stand at the Fleetwood Festival of Transport (Tram Sunday) - a very busy and hectic event; the North West Mini show which was held at Capesthorn Hall and the Manchester Transport Weekend held for 2 days at the Museum Of Science & Industry. Mid August saw our club members at another fabulous Tatton Park Summer Weekend Car show, although we joined up with another local Classic Car club to get a stand.
September was another busy month with Mini Fest, the British Mini Club event at Uttoxeter Racecourse and The National Mini Show at Stanford hall where we picked up a good few bargains. In Mid September we had a very hectic four days at the Great Britain round of the World Rally Championship event held in the Welsh forests and finally the Dales Mini Run which is another of our favourite events.
October saw an early Sunday trip to the Yorkshire Big Breakfast event for the second time in the year to look round the Performance cars and finally our Blackpool Lights run - which to be honest we won't run on a Saturday night next year as traffic was ridiculous.
Add to this long list, our 5 Saturday night trips over to the Leeds Classic Cruze, as well as our summer club night convoys and our monthly club meets, other weekend runs together with a few events that individual members have gone on as well, its been a very hectic year. Despite the very wet weather and a few other problems which meant we had to cancel around 8 events, its not been a bad year so far, we have still enjoyed over 55 days of Classic Mini fun.
2013 saw our club members attend Wirral to Llandudno Run, Mini Fair, Yorkshire Big Breakfast, Passion for Power, Night and meal with Minis, Himley Hall, London to Brighton Mini Run, Tatton Park Classic spring, Mini Cooper Day at Beaulieu, Blackpool Mini Run with moorland drive, American Car Show, Fleetwood Tram Sunday, Manchester Airport Transport Weekend, Tatton Summer Weekend, Gold Cup, Mini Fest, Rally GB, Dales Mini Run, Event City show, MiniFair 2, Autumn drive, Blackpool Run, Winter run, several Nights out with the Minis in Yorkshire, Monthly Club Nights and some Summer Convoy nights. We have also had a few extra nights and days out with the Minis as well.
